Prayer of Jesus - John 17
Updated: Oct 15, 2018
Oneness in Christ releases the Gospel. Is it any wonder this was such a devoted prayer of Christ's?
Many are offended by the disunity and enmity among Christians and between the different denominations.
Unity in Christ alone by His Spirit
"I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You"
So we want to celebrate our Unity in Christ with a focus on repentance for the hurt caused by church leaders to each other. This will further release the Gospel. (See Ephesians 4:13; John 17:23; Psalm 133:1).
Praying with Jesus Christ for Unity
Jesus Prays for All Believers
“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.
And so Lord, You also declared this blessing.
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!
It is like the precious oil upon the head, Running down on the beard, The beard of Aaron,
Running down on the edge of his garments.
It is like the dew of Hermon, Descending upon the mountains of Zion;
For there the Lord commanded the blessing— Life forevermore.
Lord Jesus, we declare that as Your body, Your church is found in You, and our life is found in You as we are grafted to You our vine, and we though many are One in You. Together by Your Holy Spirit we are united, and through our love and devotion You, and love for each other, we grow closer to You and in true Unity.
Lord thank you for our diversity, made perfectly to come together to form Your body, and that we are needed to work together and use our own God given gifts, honouring each other and our differences, moving and working together by Your Spirit, united in Christ, and obedience to Your word.
Lord, let the church in Australia responded to a renewed call to gather together in unity, putting aside our man made differences, and looking to Christ may we see each other as You see us, and in mercy and love join together for Your great commission. We thank You for the anointing that falls upon us as we are united, and for the blessing of Your Holy Spirit that comes upon us, and moves across the nation.
