Bridal Watch - In the Secret Place
The Bible provides a clear mandate for watching for the return of Christ Jesus, in fact it is one of the messages that Christ Himself repeated in His ministry on earth, and shortly before He died on the Cross of Calvary, and rose from the dead to be seated at the right hand of our Heavenly Father until His return. Those given to intercession and prophecy will find this to be one of their primary calls, or perhaps it should be. This call to the watch is also for all Christians.
However, it is clear from Scripture that the return of the Lord, is also linked intimately to the preparation of the Bride of Christ, the Body of Christ, many say His church, and certainly His faithful remnant. For the Bride is to be made spotless, purified, and carrying the sweet aroma of God’s presence, in readiness for Christ’s return. The One most passionate about this is Christ Himself, and it is He who watches over her, and waits patiently for the Bride to be made ready. This is a key watch of our Lord Jesus Christ. He revealed a shadow of this when He watched from the Mount of Olives over Jerusalem. As the Intercessor, Prophet, and passionate Bridegroom, He continues this watch, and calls many to watch with Him, as we are seated with Him in heavenly places.
As we watch for Christ and the preparation of the Bride, so we are made ready for His return, as we are transformed more into His likeness, and become part of His spotless, devoted, wife. For this servant of Christ, as part of this call to watch for the Bride, often in the fourth watch (between 3-6am), insights were gained, and specific Bible verses highlighted by God, for intercession, and prophetic decree. Excerpts of these are shared (see one below), to join with that which others have received, so we can all watch together for the Lord’s return, and the readiness of the Bride.

In the Secret Place
Hear His word, meditate on Him, and find His secret place, He you find a refuge, a dwelling place for the preparation of the Bride of Christ.
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look, and see the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion, and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
“Because he [she] has set his [her] love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him [her]; I will set him [her] on high, because he [she] has known My name. He [She] shall call upon Me, and I will answer him [her]; I will be with him [her] in trouble; I will deliver him [her] and honour him [her]. With long life I will satisfy him [her], and show him [her] My salvation. (Psalm 91)
For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord. Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice! Have mercy also upon me, and answer me. When You said, “Seek My face,” my heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.” (Psalm 27:5-8)
You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence from the plots of man; You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues. (Psalm 31:20)
You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah (Psalm 32:7)
Heed the call. “Look up, and turn your eyes to Me, for you will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Turn your eyes to look afresh upon Me; Seeing you will see. I do not want you to be here any longer, come up higher to a new dwelling place. There I will show you great and mighty things. Come.”
After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.” (Genesis 15:1)
And he said: “The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; The God of my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge; My Saviour, You save me from violence. (2 Samuel 22:2,3)
As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him. (2 Samuel 22:31)
But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head. (Psalm 3:3)
For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; With favour You will surround him as with a shield. (Psalm 5:12)
You have also given me the shield of Your salvation; Your right hand has held me up, Your gentleness has made me great. You enlarged my path under me, so my feet did not slip. (Psalm 18:35,36)
The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I will praise Him. (Psalm 28:7)
Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. (Psalm 33:20)
For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. (Psalm 84:11)
You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield. (Psalm 115:11)
Blessed be the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle— My lovingkindness and my fortress, my high tower and my deliverer, my shield and the One in whom I take refuge, who subdues my people under me. (Psalm 144:1,2)
Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. (Proverbs 30:5)
Therefore, take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints. (Ephesians 6:13-18)
For you shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight; For the Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard. (Isaiah 52:12)
Then your light shall break forth like the morning, your healing shall spring forth speedily, and your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard. (Isaiah 58:8)
So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun; When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him. “The Redeemer will come to Zion, and to those who turn from transgression in Jacob,” Says the Lord. “As for Me,” says the Lord, “this is My covenant with them: My Spirit who is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants, nor from the mouth of your descendants’ descendants,” says the Lord, “from this time and forevermore.” (Isaiah 59:19-21)
